Lisa Abbott is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Community Affairs for Lifespan Corporation, a comprehensive, integrated, academic health system affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and the state of Rhode Island’s largest employer. She is responsible for all facets of Human Capital Strategy and HR operations for health system and is charged with creating a world class Human Resources organization. With her transformative leadership approach, she is creating synergy across the system by centralizing service delivery, focusing on superior customer service and keeping the patient at the center of the change agenda. Prior to joining Lifespan, Ms. Abbott served as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the Associate Vice President for Health Affairs for Penn State’s College of Medicine, where she transformed the HR service and delivery model to a contemporary HR business partner organization. Prior to her role at Penn State Hershey, she was at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City where she was responsible for supporting the advancement of the medical college as a global leader in patient care, research and education for both the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and its regional campus in Doha, Qatar.Ms. Abbott has served in progressively responsible leadership positions in both the private and public sectors in which she was responsible for developing, leading and implementing progressive Human Resources strategies and change initiatives. Her unrelenting focus on quality, efficiency and service combined with a genuine concern and commitment for all who work with her are attributes that have been hallmarks of her career and her success. Ms. Abbott holds a Masters of Business Administration from Binghamton University with a concentration in International Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Cortland State University. She is SPHR credentialed and is a graduate of the Michigan Business School Executive Human Resources Program. She is actively involved with Binghamton University’s Alumni Association serving as a director and the secretary of its board, as well as the Chair of the Volunteer Engagement Committee.
